It is time again for another fun creative idea as part of the Handcrafted Society! This month is a super simple idea…but I really love it! I am a huge fan of the Fourth of July and I love to decorate my home for it! I decided to make a simple DIY Finial Flag Stand! I am going to teach you how to make a finial stand too!

FINIAL FLAG STAND
These finials are such a simple DIY craft to create and all they really take to create are a few simple supplies and a few minutes of your time.
FINIAL FLAG STAND SUPPLIES
To create your small flag stand you will need the following:
- wood finial (similar)
- square wood trim (I used these)
- small flag (I used these)
- black spray paint
- chop saw (if needed)
- wood glue
- drill and drill bit
FINIAL STAND INSTRUCTIONS
- Find the size of wood finial pieces you want to use. Lowes has several shapes and sizes you can choose from.
- Find a base for your wood finial to sit on. I like them to be a bit varied in size with the base being wider than the finial.
- My finial was a little taller than I wanted, so I used a chop saw to cut it at the widest spot and removed a small section of it to make it smaller.
- You will need to drill a hole where you want to insert the wooden flag dowel. Use a drill bit that is slightly larger than the wood dowel so it fits snugly into the hole. Drill down as deep as you need so it is the height you want and it sits nicely in place.
- I painted the pole of the wooden flag black to fit into my space better visually.
- Glue the base and the finial together and let it dry. Wipe off any excess glue before it dries.
- Spray paint the entire wooden flag stand. Let dry.
- Display your flag with your other decor!
It just doesn’t get any easier! There are a lot of fun ways you could use these finial stands! It would be fun to use in an office, a bedroom or on a shelf to display any flag you want to show.
