I realize that it is nearing the end of the summer for a lot of us and trips to the beach will not be as frequent now for most of us, but I forgot to share this with you earlier this summer.
I bought a $3.00 mesh expandable laundry bag and use it for our sand toys collection. It works great and I no longer drag home a bag full of dirt and sand. It gets left on the beach where it belongs! So simple!
We also learned how to get that sticky, clingy sand off of kids after a day at the beach. Baby Powder! You can also use corn starch which is a bit cheaper and safer alternative to Baby powders that contain Talc. Simply sprinkle a little bit where the sand is sticking to the skin. The powder soaks up the excess moisture and the sand falls right off! It really does work!

Well that's dang smart! Great idea!
I love that baby powder tip. I am still finding sand in the van that was stuck to my kids, from Bear Lake.
Thanks for the mesh bag idea, very useful.
Another tip you might like – take a paint brush (the thicker type) to the beach to brush the sand off you, works a treat.

Why didn't I think of this? It's so lightweight too! Thanks for another great idea! Happy weekend.
We have been using a mesh laundry bag but I LOVE the pop up bin idea! I will have to keep it in mind for next year!
Going TODAY to buy that for sand/pool toys! Why do I never think of these things?
Love the mesh bag. We use something similar…they sell mesh duffle bags with camping gear. Not sure what the original purpose is but we house our beach toys, floaties, etc in it. Then we take the whole bag for beach vacations and we check the bag. On the way home it is always funny as the bag is usually dripping from a morning in the water.
We used to use the baby powder trick too! It works great.
Never heard of the baby powder thing…will have to remember that!
Love the pop up mesh bag idea… where did you get it for sooooo cheap?
I was told the baby powder trick when I was desperatley trying to de sand my 4 month old baby whos toes had been in the sand. A lovely yummy mummy type came over and said to try it . I was amazed at how simple.
I used a smaller mesh bag for childrens bath toys as well again 15 + years ago

I LOVE these mesh bags.. I promise I have like 10 of them… They are GREAT sand toy carriers and we take empty ones with us on vacations to put dirty clothes in for the ride back home… comes in SO handy!! Lightweight, collapsable… PERFECT! Love your blog.. you always share THE BEST ideas! I check in EVERY day… :)
